Manager of Human Resources
Reports to: Vice President for Business Affairs
Work Schedule: 4-day work schedule. Monday – Thursday (7:30 – 5:30)
Job summary:
The Manager of Human Resources provides leadership and management oversight for the operations of University’s human resources, payroll, and benefits programs. The manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of personnel records, overseeing bi-weekly and monthly payroll cycles, recommending and maintaining appropriate human resource policies and internal controls, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and university policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Christian who is an active member in local church.
- Supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 3 to 5 years related Human Resource experience with at least 2 to 3 years of experience in supervisory roles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience with Human Resources in the higher education industry.
- 6 to 8 years related human resource experience
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations.
- Handles employee appeals and complaint processes;
- Manages one employee – Payroll Clerk
- Prepare new faculty contracts;
- Provide onboarding for new faculty and staff;
- Conduct ongoing study of human resources policies, programs, and practices to keep the vice presidents informed of new developments and ideas;
- Assists with processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls
- Maintains employee performance records and monitors the performance appraisal process;
- Files reports for work-related injuries and forward to workers’ compensation insurance provider;
- Maintains OSHA log;
- Recommends and direct employee benefit programs and services;
- Assist the Vice President for Business Affairs in the selection and coordination of insurance; brokers, insurance carriers, retirement administrators, and other external benefit sources;
- Protects interests of the employees and the University in accordance with published policies and procedures and governmental laws and regulations;
- Distributes and maintains Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook
- Prepares and reports information annually for IPEDS survey;
- Prepares W2’s
- Affordable Care Act 1095 Processing
- Maintains benefit portals for all benefits and deductions
- Runs reports and reconciles monthly withholdings for all benefits;
- Reconciles all benefit deductions to the GL
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Business Affairs and the President.
