Alabama School of the Arts Welcomes Artist Randy Simmons to Art Exhibit and Talk on Dec. 6

MOBILE, Ala. – The Alabama School of the Arts at University of Mobile will host an art exhibit and art talk featuring Kentucky artist Randy Simmons on Dec. 6 in Martin Hall Art Gallery on campus.

The artist talk will begin at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow. Works by Simmons will be on display through Dec 6 and exhibit hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The campus is located at 5735 College Pkwy, Mobile, Alabama 36613.

Simmons teaches drawing classes at Paducah School of Art & Design in West Kentucky.

“My work is mostly auto-biographical with much inspiration coming from my two teenage boys,” Simmons said. He said he works “with social/political themes, relationship themes as well as being inspired by my own childhood.”

Simmons graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1988 from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He went out to earn a Master of Arts in drawing at Murry State in 1991, then a Master of Fine Arts in drawing at University of Cincinnati in 1995.
