University of Mobile Announces Class of 2017

MOBILE, Ala. – University of Mobile celebrated its 50th year of commencement ceremonies when 250 members of the Class of 2017 graduated on May 13. More than 3,500 people attended the ceremony, which was held on campus for the first time in 41 years.

The ceremony also marked the start of a new tradition as new graduates touched the Great Commission Globe fountain after receiving their diplomas to signify their readiness to use their professional calling in service to God.

Kathy Dean

Kathy is an award-winning public relations professional and former journalist with a strong background in strategic communications, feature writing/story-telling, copywriting and editing. She serves as assistant vice president for university communications. Kathy joined the University of Mobile marketing/public relations staff in 1993 and has earned awards for writing, public relations and advertising, including twice receiving the grand prize for feature writing from the Baptist Communicators Association. She serves on the board of the John M. Will Scholarship Foundation, awarding scholarships to promising student journalists; and is a member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama, Baptist Communicators Association and Society of Professional Journalists. Kathy lives in Daphne with her husband, Chuck, who earned his M.B.A. from University of Mobile. They have two children and two grandchildren.
