Cheer on UM Soccer & Volleyball, Attend President’s Reception
MOBILE, Ala. – Fireworks will light the sky Oct. 29 for “Homecoming: Family Day” at University of Mobile, a carnival-themed celebration for alumni, faculty and staff, students and their families. The day also includes an alumni baseball game featuring former Rams players, and the 15-year reunion of the 2001 World Series participating team.
Homecoming: Family Day will be held at The Jungle soccer field on campus beginning at 4 p.m. Activities for alumni, faculty and staff, students and families include inflatables, face-painting, human foosball, a 35-foot obstacle course. bungee cord races, rock wall and more. A college football tent with big-screen televisions will give football fans an opportunity to keep tabs on their favorite teams
Events include a President’s Reception at 4 p.m. for alumni and parents of current students. A soccer pre-game tailgate begins at 4:30 p.m., along with women’s soccer senior recognition, then the women compete against William Carey University at 5 p.m. Men’s soccer senior recognition will be held at 7:30 p.m., then the men will take on William Carey.
The university’s new fight song will be performed for the first time in public by RamCorps brass and percussion group. The song was composed by UM Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Steve Dunn.
A carnival-themed meal is $6 at the event for alumni, families and parents, and is free to UM students with a student I.D.
Former Rams baseball players are invited to the annual alumni baseball reunion, home run derby and game on Oct. 29. The event begins with dinner at 5 p.m., a home run derby at 5:30 p.m., and alumni game with current players at 6 p.m. Cost for the alumni baseball reunion is $35 and can be paid online at www.umobile.edu/alumnibaseball.
Alumni, students and their families can get an early start on the celebration Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Pharr Gym, when UM volleyball plays College of Coastal Georgia. UM volleyball will take to the court again on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. against Middle Georgia State University.
