University of Mobile Alumna Megan Harper Joins Faculty as Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

MOBILE, Ala. – University of Mobile alumna Megan Harper has joined the faculty as assistant professor of kinesiology in the School of Health and Sports Science, College of Health Professions.

Previously, Harper served as a certified athletic trainer at the University of South Alabama where she oversaw athletic training coverage for spring football and women’s soccer, tennis, basketball and softball. She also served as an insurance coordinator for claims as well as a supervisor within the sports medicine department at USA, and taught as an adjunct instructor in kinesiology at USA and UM.

She is pursuing a Doctor of Athletic Training at Moravian College in Pennsylvania. She holds a Master of Science in exercise science from the University of South Alabama and is a 2009 University of Mobile graduate with a Bachelor of Science in athletic training.

Kathy is an award-winning public relations professional and former journalist with a strong background in strategic communications, feature writing/story-telling, copywriting and editing. She serves as assistant vice president for university communications. Kathy joined the University of Mobile marketing/public relations staff in 1993 and has earned awards for writing, public relations and advertising, including twice receiving the grand prize for feature writing from the Baptist Communicators Association. She serves on the board of the John M. Will Scholarship Foundation, awarding scholarships to promising student journalists; and is a member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama, Baptist Communicators Association and Society of Professional Journalists. Kathy lives in Daphne with her husband, Chuck, who earned his M.B.A. from University of Mobile. They have two children and two grandchildren.
