MOBILE, Ala. – University of Mobile was honored with the Debbie Campbell Community Life Award presented at the Women’s Resource Center 2019 Gala – Hold the Line.

The Debbie Campbell Community Life Award is in recognition of one organization, group or corporation that supports and speaks Life in Mobile and assists the Women’s Resource Center with their mission in a greater way.

WRC presented the award to UM for its generous scholarship to Deanna Montieth, who is employed as a nurse at the organization. The scholarship enabled Montieth to enroll in the university’s new Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Montieth graduated in UM’s first FNP class in December 2018 and received the Highest Grade Point Average award. Upon graduation, Montieth said completing the degree has been an answer to prayer.

“I know with God’s blessing and help, I will be successful and will be forever grateful for this opportunity, and will use my advanced nursing skills to make a difference in this community,” Montieth said then.

Monteith’s advanced education has enabled WRC to expand its services in a variety of ways, including allowing the organization the ability to offer STD testing for the clients that they serve.

According to the Women’s Resource Center, “UM was instrumental in pushing our mission forward to have a greater medical impact in our community.”

WRC is beginning its 35thyear. The Debbie Campbell award is named in honor of Campbell for the difference that she made in the community by taking action for the unborn.
