The University of Mobile earned top national marketing awards in the 31st Educational Advertising Awards, the largest educational advertising awards competition in the United States.
The UMobile Marketing and Public Relations Office earned two Gold Awards and a Bronze Award for their work on a fundraising campaign, social media content site and a special video.
This year, over 2,000 entries were received from over 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Judges consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report, the nation’s leading publication for higher education marketing professionals.
The university’s “All Steinway, All Together” fundraising campaign, created with JWA Creative of Newnan, Ga., received a gold award in the Total Fund Raising category. The campaign aims to raise funds to purchase Steinway pianos and earn the university the prestigious designation of being an All-Steinway School. Campaign videos and select marketing materials are online at www.umobile.edu/steinway.
The Torch, a new digital content site launched in October at UMobileTorch.com, won a Gold Award in the Social Media category.
“The Torch is a unique resource for high school students and parents who want an insider’s look at college life through personal blogs written by our students, faculty and staff,” said Lesa Moore, executive director of marketing and public relations.
“The content is intended to be useful and easily shared on social media. It’s a wonderful collection of many voices, many views and many topics including financial aid tips, college fashion, choosing a major, things to do in Mobile, and easy recipes from local chefs,” Moore said.
A Bronze Award in the Special Video category was given for the “University of Mobile: Belief in Influence” video created by Trey Taulbee, creative director. The video was produced to communicate the Christian university’s belief that strong academics, vibrant faith and leadership opportunities prepare students for a career as well as a meaningful life. The video is posted at youtube.com/universityofmobile.
