MOBILE, Ala. – Alumna Katie Allred, a national leader in the world of church communications, has been hired as assistant professor of software development and digital media in the School of Business at University of Mobile. She will also assist the Office of Marketing and Public Relations as a web designer. She returns to the university in August 2018.
As assistant professor, Allred will also direct a brand-new, student-run, marketing agency in the School of Business that will focus on the important needs of nonprofit organizations and churches. The agency will aid churches and organizations to effectively market themselves at a lower cost than the traditional marketing agency.
Currently, Allred is web content manager at Brentwood Baptist Church in Tennessee and serves as an adjunct professor online for University of Florida. She also administrates the 17,000 member Facebook group, “Church Communications.” The group exists to “encourage and equip [church communicators] by sharing expertise, asking questions, and offering ideas about branding, graphic design, the web, social media, print design, and other related topics.”
“We are thrilled to have Katie Allred joining the faculty in the School of Business at University of Mobile,” said Dr. Todd Greer, dean of the School of Business. “Katie is an incredibly talented and passionate professional and instructor. She brings an immense skillset for building digital communities and strategic initiatives which will provide positive impact to our students in their understanding of the new world of work.”
Allred holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communications from University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from University of Mobile.
