MOBILE, Ala. – University of Mobile’s popular “Christmas Spectacular” musical extravaganza is back for its 15th season, and tickets are selling quickly for the Alabama School of the Arts’ most popular event.
Christmas Spectacular will be held Nov. 16, 17, 18 at 6:45 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, 4255 Cottage Hill Rd., Mobile, AL 36609.
Tickets can be purchased online now at itickets.com. Ticket prices range from $5 to $45, with discounts for groups of 20 or more.
An orchestra of more than 50 student and professional musicians will accompany approximately 200 UM singers performing selections ranging from classical sacred to contemporary Christmas music.
Christmas Spectacular began as a way for the university’s music and theatre students to participate in a professional production and learn the behind-the-scenes preparation required to perform with excellence. Today it has grown to the largest family-friendly Christmas concert on the Gulf Coast.
Furthermore, this annual event is sentimental for one senior.
“Christmas Spectacular 2015 was the first time I knew that I was supposed to come to UM,” said senior transfer student K.K. Esther of Panama City, Florida. “Now when I’m rehearsing on the stage, I get emotional when I remember where I was two years ago.”
In addition to Christmas Spectacular, the university has more than 20 ensembles presenting more than 600 concerts each year locally, nationally and internationally. Tickets for Mobile-area events may be purchased at itickets.com.
