MOBILE, Ala. – Once a year, Dr. Salomon Itza teaches an international physics class to students in Merida, Mexico through video streaming.

Itza taught students attending Colegio Americano about hydrostatic pressure through video streaming on Nov. 21.

“I believe being able to teach this class to students in Mexico is important because it’s our testimony. Being a Christian and studying science are not opposing subjects, rather, they complement each other because science allows you to explore the creations of our Lord,” said Itza.

Colegio Americano is a bilingual Christian school. Itza taught in Spanish and English.

This was Itza’s seventh lecture to Colegio Americano. His relationship with the school began with his friendship with Floricel Ramos-Pulido, director of Colegio Americano, whom Itza met while in college.

Itza was born in Mexico and, while visiting family, he met up with Ramos. Ramos asked if he would be interested in giving a physics lecture to his students.

This was his fourth lecture to Colegio Americano while being a UM professor.

Itza received his Bachelor of Science from Autonomous University of Yucatan in Merida, Mexico. He then received a Master of Science from Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Merida, Mexico. He received his Ph.D. from Tulane University.
