5 Things You Will Need For Your Dorm

Amber Kelley Experience, Student Life

Moving into a dorm for the first time can be super stressful. You will feel like you’re not going to bring the right things or like you’re going to bring the wrong things.

I have thought through 5 items that I used habitually in my dorm throughout my four years at the University of Mobile. These things were VITAL!

1. Power Strip

This is way more needed than you think. Your dorm room will have plenty of outlets, but they might not be exactly where you need them. Grab a power strip to help you out with this.

2. Small fan

You and your roommate might not agree exactly on where to keep the temperature. Grab a cheap little fan to help yourself out! This will keep you from getting hot in the middle of the night and will act as a noisemaker in helping you knock out unwanted silence or sounds!

3. A reusable water bottle

This is a great investment. Here in Mobile, you need to be drinking lots of water to make up for the warm weather! A reusable water bottle helps you treat the world better in eliminating unwanted plastic waste and helps you save some money! This is a win-win. UM offers wonderful ,convenient water bottle refill stations as well. Grab a reusable water bottle and keep it in your backpack.

4. A full length mirror

This isn’t just for the ladies – guys, you need this too! Hang it on your door or just even prop it up. This will come in handy when you’re not completely sure if your outfit is topnotch. This will come in handy for so many reasons!

5. Plastic drawer organizer

These become super helpful! You have a dresser that comes with your dorm, but this is great to store more clothes or even just random things. This will help you stay organized and put together.

These are just a couple items that will be super helpful as you live in a dorm!
