Job Description:
The Coordinator of Student Activities is a full-time, 12-month staff member of the Office of Student Life at the University of Mobile. This position reports to the VP of Student Development and Athletics, overseeing assigned co-curricular programs for University of Mobile students in line with the mission and vision of the University of Mobile.
Duties include: 1) overseeing, budgeting, and facilitating multiple co-curricular programs, policies and procedures in line with the mission and vision of the University of Mobile, 2) partnering special events related to New Student Orientation, Preview Days, and Registration Days 3) developing, investing in, and supervising student activity (Ram Rush and CAB) student leaders, facilities, and budgets, 4) overseeing a leadership and developmental pipeline of student leaders, work studies, and students for the purpose of leadership development, spiritual formation, and service to the campus community, 5) ensuring an active and vibrant co-curricular experience.
The Coordinator of Student Activities exists to ensure that University of Mobile students have an excellent co-curricular experience, build lasting friendships, integrate themselves into university life, and graduate in a timely manner. This is accomplished through intentional mentoring of university staff and student leaders and influence and impact on the University of Mobile student body. The Coordinator of Student Activities will intentionally engage in the lives of staff and current students in an effort to enhance their total experience at the University of Mobile. They will also seek opportunities to help students make wise decisions while in college and for the future.
Position Qualifications:
- Christian who is an active member in local church.
- Supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- One year’s experience working part-time or full-time in a collegiate environment, preferably in the area of student activities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations.
- Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of university co-curricular opportunities including:
- Implementing and evaluating the overall co-curricular strategy for all students.
- Serving the student body through co-curricular programming
- Implementing effective co-curricular programming (i.e. policies, training, procedures, scheduling, and facility management).
- Overseeing student activity events and facilities.
- Managing student leaders & work studies scheduling.
- Work with VP of Student Development and Athletics to facilitate and implement co-curricular programming
- Responsible for tracking, documenting, and projecting co-curricular demographics and statistics.
Required Events and Activities
- Student Leadership Retreats (August and April).
- Presence at Student Life activities throughout the year.
- Establish regular contact with the Director of Student Retention.
- Assist Enrollment Services with prospective students.
- Required attendance at all Preview Days and weekends
- Departmental gatherings and meetings
- Other tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Student Development via Director of Student Life.
