Dean, Online and Non-Traditional Programs
Job Description: The Dean of Online and Non-Traditional Programs provides leadership for the development, delivery, and growth of online and non-traditional academic programs at the University of Mobile. The Dean works collaboratively with academic administration, faculty, and staff to ensure that programs are mission-driven, academically rigorous, and responsive to student and workforce needs. This role includes oversight of program development, quality assurance, student support services, enrollment strategies, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Position Qualifications (Educational Credentials, Skills, and Abilities):
- Christian who is an active member of a local church and who eagerly supports the University’s doctrinal statement, the Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/)
- Terminal degree in an applicable field (doctoral degree strongly preferred)
- Clear alignment with University of Mobile vision and values
- Demonstrated leadership in higher education, particularly in online, hybrid, or non-traditional program development
- Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating academic programs, including online delivery methods
- Familiarity with online learning technologies, instructional design principles, and best practices in adult and non-traditional education
- Proven ability to foster enrollment growth and retention strategies for online and adult learners
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with academic and community partners
- Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills
Position Responsibilities:
- Encourages the integration of a Christian worldview into all online and non-traditional academic programs
- Provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and promotion of online and non-traditional academic offerings
- Works with the Provost, deans, faculty, and instructional designers to develop new programs and courses that align with market demand and institutional mission
- Coordinates with enrollment management to develop effective recruitment, retention, and marketing strategies for online and non-traditional students
- Oversees quality assurance processes to ensure academic rigor and student learning outcomes in online and non-traditional programs
- Ensures compliance with SACSCOC standards, specialized accreditation requirements, and best practices in online education
- Leads faculty development initiatives focused on online pedagogy and instructional technology
- Prepares annual reports on program performance, including enrollment data, student success outcomes, and program improvements
- Engages with external partners, employers, and community organizations to build pathways for adult and non-traditional learners
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Administration
