The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling at the University of Mobile equips individuals for the practice of professional counseling and marriage and family therapy in settings that include, but are not limited to, mental health centers, hospitals, churches and private practice. Students acquire the knowledge and skills to address a variety of mental health and relational issues in the context of relationships and families.
The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling program at the University of Mobile provides you with:
A small number of MAMFC courses are offered online. However, the majority of the courses for this program are delivered in a traditional 16-week semester format on campus. Each of these classes meets one night per week for three hours. The degree can be completed in as few as seven to eight consecutive semesters (including summers), depending on your enrollment date, with most students finishing in about three years.
The University of Mobile’s Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling (MAMFC) is recognized as COAMFTE – equivalent by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy and is accepted by ABEMFT as meeting the education requirements for the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist credential in the State of Alabama.
The MAMFC is also recognized as CACREP-equivalent by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling and is accepted by ABEC as meeting the education requirements for the Licensed Professional Counselor credential in the State of Alabama.
Graduates of our program have gone on to acquire the LMFT, LPC, and related licenses in other states, as well.
