Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing

Students will write fiction, poetry, and screenplays for film and television while advancing their literary and critical studies. All creative courses are centered around the writing workshop, where students learn to edit creative work and to give and receive critical feedback in a group setting.

There will be regular opportunities for students to interact with working creative professionals who give guest lectures, offer work guidance, and help students develop useful contacts. For the final project, all aspiring writers will complete a substantial creative work in their area of specialization.

“This is the place where aspiring, talented writers gather to develop their craft, and in the process learn more about their own unique selves, talents and insights. Each writer has a story or stories that only he or she can tell, and in creative writing classes at the University of Mobile we search for that unique treasure. Having small classes and workshops allows me to give each student close attention. Students also get to know one another well, and we have a close-knit community.”
