Freshman: Welcome to Your Christ-Centered College Family!

Welcome, Freshman! I know that it can be difficult to start a new beginning, but I am here to help you have a smooth transition into campus life, here at the University of Mobile. You are not only beginning your life as a new adult, but you are entering into new friendships as part of a Christ-centered  family.

Here at the University of Mobile, we truly value our community. From the moment you step foot on our beautiful campus, you will be surrounded by warmth and people who share your values and beliefs.

One of the many great things about the University of Mobile is the chapel services. This can be an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and hear powerful testimonies. Chapel is one of many ways the University of Mobile has for you to grow in your faith as you connect with students, faculty and staff.

After you have become more comfortable in your new community, you may suddenly realize that you have been presented with challenges. Although college life can be difficult to adapt to, our caring, supportive and compassionate faculty and staff are here to guide you and even lend prayers to help you move smoothly through your journey.

As you move through your new chapter in your life, remember that you are not alone, that you are loved by your family here at the University of Mobile, and that you are a beloved child of God, who has even made all of this possible! Welcome to the University of Mobile, where your faith and academics can truly shine!

Dear College Freshman: Advice from a Graduating Senior

Dear College Freshman,

As a senior who has been learning everything as I go, I would love to give you advice that would hopefully help guide you through the rest of your journey at the University of Mobile:

Tip #1 – Make sure you have a plan.

If you have a plan, everything will run a lot smoother. You won’t be scrambling to figure out what your next step is. Also, make sure you trust in God’s plan, because nothing can happen without him!

Tip #2 – Know your degree.

This one may go without saying, but you must know what classes you are going to be taking. This can also help lighten the load of schoolwork as well ,because you would know what classes you can pair with each other. This leads me to my next tip!

Tip #3 – Socialize.

It will feel like the years have flown by if you have friends that you can create memories with.

Tip #4 – Be Involved.

I regret not being as involved as I could have been because those are memories that I missed out on. Make sure you are also in touch with the faculty just in case you need more guidance.

Tip #5 – Have fun.

This is exactly what it means! Cherish every moment of your college experience. It’s a unique time in your life filled with excitement, growth and unforgettable memories. Make the most of it by embracing every opportunity, savoring every friendship and living life to the fullest.

May you have a fantastic time in college, full of happiness, development, and blessings. Never forget that God is walking with you, guiding you, strengthening you,and filling your heart with His unconditional love. You are not and will not be alone on this journey.

Yours Truly,
Ayanna Malone
