The Center for Christian Calling helps ministry students put feet to their faith. We partner with local churches and mission agencies to provide opportunities for cross-cultural missions. Partnerships with Friends of Nazareth, Crawford Baptist Church, Redemption Church and Moffett Road Baptist Church are currently in progress.
Our ministry interns have served with: International Mission Board, Chosen People Ministries (NYC), Chosen People Ministries (Israel), Samaritan’s Purse, Open Doors USA, Dwell Mobile, Women’s Resource Center, Light of the Village, Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, Alabama State Board of Missions, Mobile Baptist Association, People of Mars Hill Church, 3Circle Church, Redemption Church, Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church, Crawford Baptist Church, Moffett Road Baptist Church and Lafitte Baptist Church, among others.
All students majoring in a ministry program (Christian Ministry, Intercultural Studies, Theological Studies) participate in weekly ministry activities throughout their university training. The Center for Christian Calling assists students in connecting with local churches and other Great Commission partners for ministry experience.
Students in each major in the School of Christian Studies participate in a summer or semester internship related to his or her area of calling and gifting. Students serve under supervisors who assess their ministry and leadership potential. The Center for Christian Calling helps find internships that are right for them.
The Center for Christian Calling seeks partnerships with like-minded evangelical churches, community ministries and Great Commission agencies to help prepare students for Gospel ministry. To discuss partnership opportunities, contact the CCC Office at 251.442.2267 or email Dr. Doug Wilson at dwilson@umobile.edu.
Students currently serve in residencies through People of Mars Hill Church and 3Circle Church. Residents may receive academic credit for ministry through the School of Christian Studies.
The CCC is privileged to be the recipient of a 19th century Torah Scroll containing a hand-written copy of the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy in Hebrew. Graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to study this document, dated to 1820. The scroll is also available to view by appointment on Friday mornings in the School of Christian Studies building (View UM Campus Map). Appointments can be made by contacting the CCC Office at 251.442.2267 or email Dr. Doug Wilson at dwilson@umobile.edu.
