Position Overview

The Social Media & Content Manager leads the University of Mobile’s social media presence and content strategy across all major platforms, helping to tell the story of the University of Mobile. This strategic communicator develops, executes, and manages social media campaigns that engage current and prospective students, alumni, and the broader community. From content planning and creation to real-time engagement, the Social Media & Content Manager plays a critical role in advancing the university’s mission and brand.

Qualifications

  • Committed Christian who is actively involved in a local church
  • Supports the University’s Statement of Christian Affirmation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in social media management (in-house, freelance, or agency)
  • Proven experience developing and implementing social media strategies that drive engagement and growth
  • Skilled in content creation, including writing, photography, video and basic graphic design
  • Proficient in social media scheduling, analytics, and management tools (e.g., Metricool, Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social)
  • Strong copywriting skills and knowledge of social media best practices
  • Ability to monitor trends and adjust strategies to maximize impact
  • Experience working with brand guidelines and campaign messaging
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple platforms simultaneously
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Reflect the Imago Dei of Christ (Genesis 1:26) in all professional interactions and creative work
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for the university
  • Create and curate engaging content across all major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Oversee content calendars and scheduling to ensure consistency and timeliness
  • Engage with followers, respond to messages, and foster a sense of community online
  • Collaborate with content creators, photographers, and designers to produce compelling, high-quality digital assets
  • Lead the university-wide Social Media Managers Group to collaborate and partner with departments across campus
  • Track and analyze performance metrics, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement
  • Write feature stories, news articles, press releases, and creative content highlighting students, faculty, alumni, campus life and more
  • Stay informed on platform updates, emerging trends, and new content formats
  • Work closely with marketing strategists to align social media efforts with larger campaigns; Brainstorm and implement creative campaign ideas with the marketing team
  • Capture and post live event coverage as needed
  • Serve as on-camera talent for videos, hosting and presenting content when needed
  • Ensure content reflects the university’s brand voice, Christian mission and values
  • Lead and coordinate the efforts of student interns and content creators
  • Support other marketing initiatives and duties as assigned
