Some characteristics of effective professionals in the field of elementary education include communication skills, empathy, resourcefulness, patience and organizational skills.
A Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education gives you the knowledge, understanding, and necessary skills for teaching kindergarten through sixth grade. Teaching skills are refined through in-class modeling and field experiences that help you practice methodology and reflective decision making. Our program not only consists of formal training in education methods, theory and pedagogy, but also assists students in understanding that theory and practical application complement one another. Graduates are considered Highly Qualified (HQ) by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Employment prospects remain excellent, as current educators retire and new and innovative educational opportunities are created to meet the needs of children in an ever-changing world.
