MOBILE, Ala. – Creativity comes alive and students shine at summer music and theatre camps offered in June by the Alabama School of the Arts at the University of Mobile. Registration is underway for the day camps.
“We had a fantastic camp experience last year, and we are looking forward to having an even better time this year,” said camp director Dr. Stephanie Archer, assistant professor of music at UM. “Our summer camps are the perfect opportunity for children and teenagers to engage in the performing arts in new ways.”

UM Summer Theatre Camp – June 9-13 & June 16-20
UM’s theatre camp for high schoolers offers aspiring actors the chance to grow in their craft and gain performance opportunities.
The UM Summer Theatre Camp is for students ages 14-18 or who have completed 8th-12th grades. The 10-day camp will take place Mondays through Fridays, June 9-13 and June 16-20. On June 20 at 7 p.m., there will be a final showcase performance to display all that the participants learned throughout the 10-day camp.
This camp includes intensives and showcase rehearsals which will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Classes and workshops will cover acting, dance, auditioning, stage combat, improv and music/voice.
Tuition is $550 per student. A non-refundable down payment of $75 is required to secure a camp spot at registration. A sibling discount of 10% is available for any additional child attending. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and daily snack.
UM Summer Music Camp – June 23-27
“Our music camp provides children with the opportunity to engage in various musical activities and experience instruments or genres that they might not have ever heard before. Each day will be full of exciting and age-appropriate learning,” Archer said.
The UM Summer Music Camp is for rising 2nd – 6th grade students. The camp will take place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily classes will cover instrument discovery, singing lessons, music history, and outdoor recreation and movement.
Camp tuition is $250 with a non-refundable down payment of $50. A sibling discount of 10% is available for any additional child attending. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and daily snack.
