Job Summary:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a key member of the Vice President for Business Affairs (CFO) division, responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the University’s technology strategy. The CIO ensures that IT systems and staff support the organization’s goals effectively and securely, enabling innovation, growth, and operational excellence.

Job Description: 

Minimum Qualifications (Educational credentials, skills and abilities):

  • Christian who is an active member in local church.
  • Supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/).
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning and execution of enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
  • Ability to set IT goals and timelines for projects
  • Experience with SQL and database management
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, data governance, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
  • 3-5 year’s experience managing an IT team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in IT-related field from an accredited institution
  • 10 years of IT leadership experience with at least 5 years in higher education
  • 2 years of implementation, administration and management experience with Colleague Student Information and Jenzabar ERP
  • Experience with Canvas Learning Management System
  • In-dept understanding of data analytics, databases, and how to supply qualified enterprise decision-makers with the right data effectively.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations.
  • Responsible for UM’s effective implementation of IT management responsibilities, as well as for university data and its security.
  • Manages administrative, academic, and specialized technology, including implementations, maintenance, and updates.
  • Develops and executes an IT strategic plan that aligns with the institution’s overall mission and priorities
  • Establishes and manages the IT budget effectively, prioritizing technology and maximizing resources
  • Leads institutional research functions, including data strategy, data research and reporting
  • Develops and manages the IT staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and expertise
  • Establishes and maintains high standards for IT security, including cyber security policies and procedures, disaster recovery and business continuity planning to safeguard against data loss or security breaches
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leadership, faculty, staff and students
  • Manage and optimize cloud-based infrastructure, campus networks and storage solutions to meet both educational and operational needs
  • Advise the Vice President and other members of the leadership team on matters relating to technology.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President
