BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

The biblical worldview serves as the pathway by which students are prepared to fulfill the Great Commission as noted in God’s Word through:
Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” | Describes our calling to Him
Genesis 1:26 – “Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;…” | Describes who we are in Him
Romans 12:2 – “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may provide what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” | Describes our transformation by Him

CORE VALUES

Christ-centered
The gospel of Jesus Christ is at the core of everything we do at the University of Mobile. The gospel moves through every aspect of our lives, our campus, and our intentions. Our hope is to send out leaders who understand the call of God on their lives and work to build his Kingdom.

Academically-focused
With over 50 areas of study, the University of Mobile believes strong academics is vital in a changing world. We work hard to find faculty of the highest caliber to train and educate students to be the best in their field of study.

THE GREAT COMMISSION TRADITION

The Great Commission Tradition is grounded in the biblical worldview that is the foundation of the University of Mobile experience. It includes two ceremonies: President’s Commissioning that marks the beginning of a new student’s college experience, and Commencement that signals the beginning of a new graduate’s impact on the world. Its centerpiece is the Great Commission Globe, located at the heart of the University of Mobile campus on the Dr. Fred and Sue Lackey Great Commission Lawn. The Great Commission Globe was made possible through a generous gift from the estate of Doris M. Davis.

President’s Commissioning is held at the beginning of each fall semester. During a ceremony of prayer and worship, incoming students touch the globe as they process toward Weaver Hall. This first touch symbolizes the student’s commitment to open his or her mind and heart to the intellectual development and spiritual transformation that lies ahead.

This transformative process takes place within a biblical worldview that serves as the pathway by which students are prepared to fulfill the Great Commission as noted in God’s Word through:

Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” | Describes our calling to Him
Genesis 1:26 – “Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;…” | Describes who we are in Him
Romans 12:2 – “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may provide what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” | Describes our transformation by Him

The second touch occurs at Commencement as the new graduates recess from the ceremony, moving forward toward the world beyond campus. This final touch symbolizes the commitment of University of Mobile alumni to answer God’s call, as described in Isaiah:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah 6:8

In this way, a biblical worldview acts as the framework in preparing each student to know Him and serve His will through one’s professional calling in fulfilling the Great Commission.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20
