Vice President for Business Affairs

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:30-5:30, other hours as needed

Job Description:  The Vice President for Business Affairs is a senior leadership position that serves on the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the President. The VP for Business Affairs oversees overall business and finance functions, financial forecasting and modeling, campus operations and risk management, food services, human resources, information technology, and other functions.

  • Christian who is an active member of a local church that closely aligns with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  • Supports the University of Mobile’s Statement of Christian Affirmation (https://umobile.edu/about/mission/).
  • Committed to Christ-centered higher-education and the mission of University of Mobile.
  • Minimum of an earned bachelor’s degree (for CFO position only), with MBA, JD, and/or doctorate preferred.
  • Significant academic experience in the areas of accounting, business management, financial strategic planning, and law governing legal activities of a university.
  • Substantial experience as an accountant and financial strategist.
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of non-profit organizations.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Reports to the president of the University.
  • Oversees areas of overall business and finance functions, financial forecasting and modeling, campus operations and risk management, food services, human resources, information technology, and other functions as assigned.
  • Primary responsibilities include:
    • Financial forecasting, planning, and management of the University.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and processes.
    • Establishes financial strategic processes for University.
    • Manages contracts of the University and associated services.
    • Guides the development and delivery of Human Resources.
  • Collaborates with other Vice Presidents of University in weekly meetings and other scheduled meetings to address any financial developments.
  • Provides management and leadership for staff serving in areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes goals and completes annual evaluations of all staff serving in areas of responsibility.
  • Provides accurate, insightful, and timely financial reporting of financial resources to internal and external parties as approved and/or requested by the President.
  • Prepares annual budget in submission to President for approval.
  • Strives toward the development of a paperless accounting process.
  • Completes other assigned duties as requested by the President.
