Instructor/Assistant Professor of Spanish

The University of Mobile College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Humanities invites applications for a full-time/tenure-track Instructor or Assistant Professor of Spanish position to begin August 2024.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate language courses in Spanish and Spanish culture based on the needs of the department. Other tasks include preparation of course materials and assignments, serving as academic advisor to students as assigned, engaging in curriculum review and development, and coordinating experiential learning opportunities for students. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required; the ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention and experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) are also required.

This position will be a full-time, 9-month appointment. The university academic curriculum is based on a four-day week. Some programmatic activities require some evenings and Friday coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Earned Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Spanish or related field
  • Required: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish or Spanish language instruction
  • Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience
