Instructor/Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

The University of Mobile invites applications for a fulltime/tenure track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology. The Department of Kinesiology is located within the University of Mobile’s School of Health and Sports Science. The successful candidate will be energetic, dynamic, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Required qualifications include a postgraduate degree in a related field, earned doctorate preferred. Additional qualifications include (but are not required) higher education experience, clinical experience within the field of exercise physiology and or biomechanics.

Dean, School of Business

Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving 

The desired candidate is a Christian that serves as a vital member of the Office for Advancement in supporting the mission of the University by providing Christ-like leadership in the areas of planned giving and major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The Director of Planned Giving and Major Gifts reports to the Associate Vice President for Advancement.

Essential Job Function of the Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving

  • Demonstrate Christ-like behavior in all internal and external venues.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of institutional fundraising initiatives.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 100-125 leadership prospects and donors to ensure timely cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding -through regular personal contact, written appeals, follow-up, outreach events, face to face meetings, and special events.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of an endowment and/or capital campaign.
    • Plan, implement, and execute a comprehensive fundraising program for planned gifts that complements the University’s priorities and fundraising strategies.
    • Assist in the planning, implementing, and executing a comprehensive fundraising program of endowed and major gifts that complements the University’s priorities and fundraising strategies.
    • Initiate and oversee the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned gifts and major gift donors.
    • Manage the Honorary Fellows and create stewardship opportunities for the University’s planned giving donors.
    • Responsible for marketing and administrative functions to encourage planned and major gifts to the University.
    • Identify, recruit, and train planned giving volunteers for the purpose of increasing activity in the planned and major gift areas.
    • Provide leadership in the planning and budgeting for planned giving and major gift activities and strategies, including the Scholarship Luncheon.
    • Cultivate and solicit planned and major gifts, making personal visits weekly.
  • Develop, recruit, and engage the President, Trustees, Associate Vice President for Advancement, Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty, alumni and staff to assist in major and planned giving cultivation and solicitation activities.
    • Assist with special events and have occasional evening and weekend hours required.
    • Work with other advancement directors to function as an effective advancement team with the overall goal of providing increased financial support to the University.
    • Assist with special events and have occasional evening and weekend hours required (which may include overnight travel)
    • Assist the President, Administration and Advancement with other duties as assigned.

The Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving must possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to demonstrate, explain, and perform the essential functions of the job.
Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess the ability to navigate computers and such programs as Word and Excel.
    • Demonstrate great organizational and communication skills.
    • Capable and willing to travel.

 

Qualifications

  • Active membership in a local church (Southern Baptist preferred).
  • Earned bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of experience in working in a development/financial management position, and/or performing similar tasks (such as managing trusts, endowed funds or planned giving vehicles) as required. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills – both verbal and written – and should demonstrate success in management of people and processes. The ability to adapt to and effectively utilize appropriate technology is important. Possession of a financial services background and/or training or professional work experience is a plus.

Demonstrate an energetic self-motivated personality while being comfortable working in a team-oriented environment that fosters collaboration across all aspects of the college’s advancement activities. This also includes the ability to establish warm professional relationships with constituents based on integrity and respect is essential.
